Andy Feathers
Born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, Andy Feathers grew up admiring the city’s three rivers and the beautiful geography created by their confluence. He started renting kayaks under Pittsburgh’s Clemente Bridge at a young age and fell in love with paddling.
He’s been writing and embracing creative projects since high school, finding himself in various remote areas to start gardens and make art, tutoring English and writing remotely all-the-while. He turns to the outdoors–most recently via canoeing, paddle boarding, and cross-country skiing–to observe nature and preserve his connection to it.
He teaches English and writing at Duquesne and West Virginia Universities, and takes inspiration from Thoreau, spending his off-hours on the waters of Pennsylvania and West Virginia–often embracing and deepening his fascination with urban landscaping and waterways.
His first genre is poetry, for its music, brevity, and honesty–characteristics he hopes you’ll also enjoy in his articles.
