The Fliteboard 4 – Innovation Achieved
The Fliteboard 4 is available in Fiberglass, Carbon Classic, and Carbon finishes. Aesthetically, the Carbon finish impresses with its smooth, silky sheen. It comes at a higher cost, but the Fiberglass finish is elegant enough to satisfy those who prioritize the ride over appearance.
With either a Sport or Explore battery, the Fliteboard 4 can achieve anywhere between an hour to more than two hours of ride time, depending on the propulsion system, rider weight, and riding style. Minor improvements from the 3rd generation have enhanced efficiencies, resulting in slightly extended ride times.
Three different types of wings determine the stability and maneuverability of the eFoil. Advanced riders will appreciate the smaller Flyer 800 for sharp turns and speed, while beginners will value the solid stability of the larger wings.
With the bigger battery and larger wing, the Fliteboard 4 offers elegance and is relatively easy for riders with some experience to get up on. The new Flite Controller, featuring a more dynamic real-time display, is a grand improvement, simplifying speed settings and providing more intuitive control.

The ride is smooth with the Flite Jet and remains one of the quietest eFoils available. Compared to other premium electric hydrofoils, the Fliteboard 4 impresses with its ride quality and deserves a top spot as an all-arounder suitable for a wide range of riders.
It’s fast with the prop and guard, though no True Glide is available on this model. The power delivery is immediate yet intuitive enough to prevent jerking.
The Flitecell batteries available are: Nano (45 minutes), Sport (90 minutes) and the Explore (150 minutes).
The Fliteboard 4 has become a popular water toy for yachting, which makes swapping batteries or buying the bigger Explore the ideal choice. For most mortal riders doing shore launches, the Sport seems the most appealing option.
Other Fliteboard eFoils
Fliteboard has been in the electric hydrofoil game since 2018 and has been a leading premium brand since. Popular with yachters, we’ve also seen a lot of beach-based rental shops going with Fliteboards because of the ease of use–which provides quicker satisfaction for their customers and word of mouth value.
Beyond the standard Fliteboard, there is the PRO, Ultra L2, Flite x Marc Newson (Limited Edition), the new and improved Air as well as a Flitescooter, unveiled at the MIBS 2024.
The Air is an inflatable model intended to save the polish on a yacht and for beginners looking for a more forgiving surface. The other models are for more performance-minded riders.

Fliteboard Wingset Options
The Fliteboard 4’s wing system elevates you above the water, minimizing drag and enhancing efficiency. When purchasing your Fliteboard 4, you have the option to choose the wing system that fits your preferences.
The Flyer 800 offers a swift and agile experience, while the Cruiser 1100 and Cruiser 1800 wings provide greater stability.
Having multiple wing sets allows you to tailor your board to your specific needs, considering factors like rider weight, skill level, and riding style, all while keeping your gear minimal and manageable by the water.
The traditional propulsion system uses a straightforward propeller encased in a protective guard. This system is the most efficient and powerful, offering quicker acceleration and higher top speeds. However, it does have drawbacks. Even with the protective housing, any exposed spinning blade poses a risk of injury, with prop strikes being a common and serious concern for boaters.
Fliteboard’s innovative Flite Jet propulsion system addresses many of these issues with a fully enclosed design. Similar to a jet ski, the Flite Jet has no exposed moving parts, resulting in a smoother and quieter ride compared to traditional systems. The reduced drag also allows for smoother turns.
This concept is akin to what Awake has implemented in their Vinga 3 eFoil, a strong competitor to the Fliteboard Pro or Ultra models.
Why We Like Fliteboard
Not just because we’ve met the CEO and think he’s a splendid guy. We appreciate the original innovation of Flite. The fact that they’ve “teamed up” with Brunswick Corp only ensures the engineering prowess they have will continue.
The Fliteboard starts at $10,495 for the standard board with mast, prop and Sport battery. This includes the basic fiberglass model complete with wings and charger.
The higher-end models are designed for specific riding styles and excel in their respective areas, offering performance that is matched by only by Aerofoils, Lift and Awake.
Given the quality and aesthetics of the Series 4 eFoils from Fliteboard, their value is undeniable compared to other alternatives.
